Nettie’s Lily

What do the first 5 pictures have to do with the last one? And this is just any old regular flower bulb planting, right? Actually, these pictures portray a significant historical event. These are Crinum Lily bulbs that are starts from my maternal Great Great Great Grandmother (I don’t even know her name–just that she was born in South Carolina and that her married name was Mathis/Mathews). She gave a start of the Lily to her...

June 2010

June was quite the month. Here are some highlights, in chronological order. We (Magdalena, James, and I) went to Thanksgiving Point’s Farm Country with some friends from the neighborhood. In May when we went, Magdalena was afraid to ride a pony. But this time, she was excited to do it. This is her first time riding on an animal . Magdalena absolutely loves to dance. And she sings so much. She will often sing to herself for 30 minutes in her bed...

Recent Happenings

This month the aquarium got a new exhibit–penguins! We went on the opening night and Magdalena loved it. James had his first non-sponge bath on 3/28. There were a lot of tears early on, but once he got used to it he seemed to enjoy it. I had a hard time narrowing down which photos to post so here are a bunch. The 28th was also James’s first time going to Church so there is a picture in his white shirt right before Church. Today was...

James and his Favorite Blankie?

We have a history of crocheted favorite blankies in our family (or at least we’re starting one :)). My Aunt Cynthia crocheted a blanket for me when I was a baby and I slept with it every night into my teenage years–it was always a great comfort to me when things were rough. Around the time I was 16 my Dad, who I guess thought I was too old for it, took it and “threw it away.” Luckily, my Dad is sentimental about keeping...

2009 4th of July

It’s hard to believe that we’re repeating events. It seems like just yesterday we were at the 4th of July parade with Magdalena, and here we are again. We went down to the Provo parade, which seems to be a family tradition now, and we have a nice spot that Brynn’s Aunt Callie saved for us. We finally invested in some of those folding/camping chairs. They were only $10/apiece at Wal-Mart and man, it’s a lot better than sitting on the ground or...

Brynn and Josh’s Half Marathon

Whew! Brynn and I just finished running the Salt Lake City Half-Marathon together. We hadn’t planned to run together originally, and we both had our iPods ready to go, but we started together and found out that we were comfortable running the same pace (we’ve never been able to train together so we weren’t sure) so we just stayed together the entire way and never even turned our iPods on. The weather was absolutely...
